Ogier relocates Cayman MP to Hong Kong

King & Wood and Fangda advises on SouFun IPO

King & Wood, Sidley Austin and Conyers have recently advised SouFun Holdings, the country’s largest property website, on its IPO on the New York Stock Exchange. The company sold 2.9 million American Depositary Shares, raising US$125m.

TMT: China Mobile 3.2% stake sold for US$6.6bn

Freshfields has advised Vodafone on its US$6.6bn China Mobile stake sale. Cayman Islands firm Ogier, led by corporate partner Nicholas Ward, provided Jersey legal counsel to Vodafone. China Mobile was not represented by outside counsel.

Ogier tops FactSet Filings

The 2007 FactSet Global Filings league tables reveal that offshore law giant Ogier had the most number of documents filed, with 1,500. That was nearly double that of second-placed Mourant, which had 780. The documents show the number of times firms represented the issuers. It also reflects the multiple tranches involved in a securities deal in which a law firm served as advisor.

Offshore competition increases onshore in Singapore

Cains, an offshore commercial law firm incorporated in the Isle of Man, recently announced it would open an Asia-Pacific regional office in Singapore by mid-2008, to service existing clients and build a regional business on-the-ground. The move highlights the growing competition in the Asian offshore legal market.
