PRC law firm Fangda Partners has hired investment funds specialist Yue Zhang as a partner in Hong Kong from Kirkland & Ellis.

Zhang is Fangda’s latest hire from a U.S. firm. Earlier this year, the firm hired real estate transactional lawyer Maria Wang as a partner in Shanghai from Morrison & Foerster. And in October last year, the Chinese firm hired a capital markets team, led by partners Colin Law and Peter Chen, from Shearman & Sterling in Hong Kong.

Zhang specialises in private equity and investment management focusing on USD-denominated fund formation and regulatory matters. He also advises on private equity and other investment firms on fund formation, structuring and investment. Prior to joining Kirkland, he was an associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.

With the hire of Zhang, the number of partners in Fangda’s Hong Kong office is 20.
