Han Kun, CC, Fangda, Davis Polk on Permira’s purchase of majority stake in EY’s children-focused business
Han Kun Law Offices and Clifford Chance have advised private equity firm Permira on its purchase of the majority stake in the children-focused business of language tutor EF Education First, with Fangda Partners and Davis Polk & Wardwell advising the seller.
According to Reuters, Permira bought a 60% stake in EF Kids & Teen, which focuses on China and Indonesia businesses, valuing it at around $1.5 billion.
Founded in 1965 in Sweden, EF Education First focuses on kids & teen English, adult English and overseas education consultation in China. EF Kids & Teens now has 288 schools across 62 cities in China and 79 schools in Indonesia. It has achieved about $100 million in earnings last year at its China business.
Meanwhile, founded in 1985 and headquartered in London, Permira focuses on consumer, services, healthcare and technology sectors.
