Weil, Gotshal & Manges and Slaughter and May have advised Chinese aviation and shipping giant HNA Group on the purchase of a $6.5 billion stake in Hilton Worldwide Holdings from Blackstone Group, which was represented by Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.

The deal is only the latest high-profile acquisition for the fast-growing HNA Group. In May, it acquired Carlson Hotels, owner of Radisson hotels, for an estimated $2 billion. More recently, its aviation unit Avalon Holdings purchased an aircraft leasing business from the U.S.-based CIT Group for $10 billion.

Weil’s Hong Kong team was led by partners Akiko Mikumo, Charles Ching and Soo-Jin Shim, while partner Clara Choi acted on behalf of Slaughter and May. New York partner Brian Stadler led for Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.
