Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld has hired corporate lawyer William L. Rosoff as the partner-in-charge of its Beijing office. He replaces Spencer Griffith, who is relocating back to the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.
The appointment of Rosoff follows the opening of Akin Gump’s Hong Kong office, demonstrating the firm's commitment to Asia.
“Bill (Rosoff) is a great addition to our firm and represents another strong step forward for Akin Gump in Asia,” said Rick Burdick, the international managing partner at Akin Gump, in a statement
Rossoff specialises in the structuring and negotiation of complex mergers, hostile takeovers, cross border acquisitions, and joint ventures. His practice also includes the handling of infrastructure projects and transactions. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and is on the General Counsel Panel of Distinguished Neutrals of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CPR), while being a CPR-certified mediator.
“The increasingly sophisticated work that we are handling for clients in China and throughout Asia makes Bill, with his broad corporate practice and in-depth knowledge of the Chinese legal system, an excellent fit,” Burdick added.
Rosoff joins Akin Gump from Cozen O’Connor in New York, where he has practised since 2009. Prior to this, he was a partner at the New York offices of O'Melveny & Myers and Davis Polk & Wardwell. He has also served as senior vice president and general counsel of Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc, and of RJR Nabisco Inc.
“Akin Gump offers that rare combination of a respected global corporate practice and a renowned public policy and regulatory team that clients find invaluable. That, coupled with its commitment to the continued growth in China and throughout Asia, makes me very excited to join the firm,” said Rosoff of his new firm.
