Deacons has hired Lee Travis Benjamin from Baker & McKenzie to head the firm’s Hong Kong and China tax practice.
Based in Hong Kong, Benjamin focuses on international tax planning matters regarding M&A, restructuring, fund formation and capital markets transactions. He also advises clients on tax controversy issues, including revenue authority audits and Board of Review appeals.
Benjamin joins Deacons from Baker & McKenzie, where he was special counsel. Prior to that, he worked with KPMG’s tax department in Hong Kong and Melbourne.
The addition of Benjamin closely follows the hire of debt capital markets partner Kevin Tong from King & Wood Mallesons in early November.
