J. E. Jamison & Co., Big Four firm Deloitte’s Hong Kong legal arm, has hired lawyer Norris Yang as a partner from Zhong Lun Law Firm.

Yang spent a cumulative 24 years at his previous firm. In 1995, he joined Hong Kong law firm Boughton Peterson Yang Anderson, which merged with PRC firm Zhong Lun in 2011.

Earlier this year, Deloitte became the latest of the Big Four firms to set up an office in Hong Kong. It was established by the firm’s China general counsel, James Jamison.

Yang is the latest senior lawyer to leave Zhong Lun Law Firm. Earlier this year, the firm lost a team of eight lawyers, including two partners, Shirley Wang and Grace Chen, to Beijing-headquartered FenXun Partners. This was followed by the exit of Peng Liu who joined Haiwen & Partners as a senior counsel in Shanghai, and Li Huhuan who was appointed as a partner in Han Kun Law Offices.

Yang, who has been practicing international commercial law in Hong Kong and Canada since 1980, specialises in alternative dispute resolution, corporate and commercial law, international investments, mergers and acquisitions, and trusts. He is an attesting officer appointed by the Ministry of Justice of the People’s Republic of China and is an accredited mediator since 1999.

Yang started his legal career at Baker McKenzie. In 1985, he co-founded a solicitors’ firm in Hong Kong -  Alan Lam and Norris Yang, Solicitors and Notary – spending a decade there.
