Morrison & Foerster has recruited partner Thomas Yunlong Man to strengthen its corporate practice in Beijing.

Formerly of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, Man specialises in complex cross-border corporate matters including M&A, antitrust, private equity, and investigations related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

He has represented a wide range of clients in the U.S. and China in major deals, including those from the chemical, semiconductor, mining, real estate, and oil and gas, among others sectors.

“Lawyers with PRC backgrounds and U.S. practice experience are highly valued in China,” said MoFo Beijing managing partner Paul D. McKenzie, in a statement. “Thomas is bilingual and bicultural, and works with equal ease with Chinese, U.S. and European clients. He will be a tremendous asset to our clients.”

Holding a J.D. from the Indiana University School of Law – Bloomington, Man also holds a Masters in Western History from Peking University and a Ph.D. in U.S. constitutional history from Johns Hopkins University.

“I am delighted to join Morrison & Foerster,” said Man. “MoFo’s China practice is well-established, sophisticated, and highly accomplished in many areas relevant to my work, particularly cross-border M&A and antitrust matters. I can’t think of a better place to advance my practice.”

Man joins MoFo’s earlier recruits, including partners Melody He-Chen and Gregory Wang, as the firm sees a burgeoning market in China-related inbound and outbound transactions.
