Fulbright & Jaworski, which will merge with Norton Rose in June, has promoted arbitration specialist James Rogers to partner in Hong Kong.

Rogers focuses on arbitration, alternative dispute resolution, construction and litigation. His expertise covers energy, construction, licensing and technology projects and investments in Asia, Europe, the U.S. and the Middle East.

Rogers joined the firm’s London office in 2008, and relocated to Hong Kong in 2011. He was previously with the London and Tokyo offices of Herbert Smith (now Herbert Smith Freehills).

“James is a strong contributor to our global arbitration capacity, having practiced in our London office and with previous experience of Asia based in Tokyo. He has long experience of handling major international arbitrations under all of the major arbitral rules coupled with exceptional client care skills,” said David Howell, co-head of arbitration at Fulbright.

The merger with Norton Rose will see Rogers and Beijing-based associate Matthew Townsend join forces with Norton Rose’s Asia arbitration and dispute resolution practice team, which includes partners Jim James and Camille Jojo in Hong Kong and Guy Spooner in Singapore.

“It is an honour to join the partnership, particularly at such an exciting time in the firm’s history. The merger to create Norton Rose Fulbright, which goes live on June 1, 2013, is transformational, providing us with unparalleled global coverage and an ability to service clients wherever we are needed,” said Rogers.
