Chinese firm HaoLiWen has hired anti-monopoly lawyer Yang Ning, who was formerly with T&D Associates, to lead its Beijing-based competition practice.

Yang specialises in the antitrust practices of cartels, abuse of market dominance and preclosing filings, and clearance with the Chinese government in connection with M&A projects. He has also advised multinationals on anti-dumping, countervailing and safeguard actions in a range of highly technical and chemical sectors, in addition to stainless steel.

Yang was a judge at the Weifang Intermediate Court of Shandong province before he started private practice.

Commenting on the firm’s newest addition, Bejing and Shanghai senior partner Zhao Deming said in a statement: “Yang fits well with HaoLiWen business strategies in that anti-monopoly is one of the key practice areas for HaoLiWen Beijing office. With his diversified experience as a judge and litigation lawyer, Yang will also be a new driving force in the momentum of dispute resolution practice of HaoLiWen.”
