Two of the four lateral hires were recruited from international firms - Huang Wen, previously with Sullivan & Cromwell, and Cheng Xiaofeng (pictured), formerly at Allen & Overy.

In addition, the firm has recently appointed Liu Cheng, previously with DLA Piper, as of counsel in its international trade group in Beijing, and Matthew Seiden, previously a partner of Washington D.C firm Arnold & Porter, as its New York-based senior IP advisor.

King & Wood's managing partner Wang Ling expects the new appointments to increase the firm's competitiveness, particularly in outbound matters.

According to this year's ALB China 20, an annual ranking of the country's largest law firms by headcount which was published in the July edition of ALB China magazine, King & Wood, which ranked second, had 830 lawyers, including 200 partners, across its 16 offices. ALB
