K&L Gates has boosted its Greater China offering after hiring Henry Wang as a partner in Beijing from Mayer Brown JSM, and Jay Chiu as a partner in Hong Kong from Goodwin Procter.
Wang, who will be joining K&L Gates’ corporate and transactional practice, has 20 years of experience advising domestic and multinational corporations, financial institutions, and private investors on a range of corporate matters involving China. He is a former general counsel with General Motors in Shanghai.
Disputes specialist Chiu was head of Goodwin Procter’s Asian IP and litigation practice. He has more than 14 years of patent litigation experience, having represented technology clients such as computer, semiconductor, liquid crystal display, optical storage, software, and telecommunication companies.
“We are very pleased to have Henry and Jay join our team here,” said David Tang, K&L Gates’ managing partner, Asia, in a statement. “Their additions also mark our firm’s commitment to continued expansion and growth in Asia, not merely in headcount, but also in the depth and continuity of our practice offerings.”
