Mayer Brown JSM has strengthened its real estate practice with the hire of Ricky Yiu from Baker & McKenzie as a partner in Hong Kong, apart from promoting five of its lawyers to its partnership in Greater China.
Yiu, who will join Mayer Brown JSM in early 2014, advises clients on real estate and development matters in Hong Kong, China and Macau, including real estate related M&A, joint ventures, finance and investment, and private equity transactions.
The five lawyers promoted are litigation and dispute resolution specialists Marina Fung and Mei Ling Lew, corporate and securities lawyer Chester Wong, and restructuring and insolvency expert Thomas Pugh, in Hong Kong, along with corporate and securities lawyer Zhen Han in Beijing. The promotions are effective Jan. 1.
The firm recently hired intellectual property and TMT partner Gabriela Kennedy from Hogan Lovells in Hong Kong, corporate partner Betty Tam from Herbert Smith Freehills in Shanghai, and consultant Guoqing Li from Jingtian & Gongcheng in Beijing.
