MinterEllison has welcomed M&A and foreign investment specialists Bi Chen and Chris Carr as partners at its Beijing and Shanghai offices, respectively.

Previously with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Chen focuses on Chinese overseas direct investment into countries including Australia. She acts for Chinese state-owned enterprises across sectors including natural resources, energy, infrastructure, agriculture, telecommunications and technology.

Carr joins the firm from King & Wood Mallesons, advising multinational and Chinese clients on their cross-border transactions and investment strategies. He has worked on high-profile onshore and offshore M&A transactions and joint ventures in a range of sectors. Prior to KWM, he was with Freshfields in Beijing.

With these new recruits, MinterEllison will now have 13 partners and more than 50 in its Greater China team.
