Norton Rose has recruited former Baker & McKenzie partner Barbara Li to reinforce its Beijing corporate capability, taking the number of partners in that office to eight.

Li concentrates on the legal aspects of mining, energy, construction and infrastructure development, advising on both inbound and outbound investment and M&A.

"Barbara is a perfect fit for us in Beijing. She is a native Mandarin speaker, and has built a strong reputation as a top class corporate lawyer in the mining, infrastructure and energy sectors, which aligns neatly with our own focus. Her ability to provide both Chinese law and English law advice also helps us to continue to build the number of high calibre dual qualified lawyers we have in Beijing. I look forward to welcoming Barbara to the team," said Phillip John, head of North Asia and a partner in Norton Rose’s Hong Kong office, in a press release.

"This is an exciting time to be joining Norton Rose. It’s a firm with a clear global strategy, and a history of success in Asia. Its sector focus in particular fits well with my own practice. I look forward to playing my part in the continued success of the firm," said Li.
