Former BASF Shanghai senior in-house counsel, Chang Yujie, has recently joined Global Law Office as partner in its Beijing office. His main practice areas include FDI, cross-border M&A, PE, venture capital and public offerings of PRC companies on the HKSE and NASDAQ.

Prior to his in-house stint, he worked as counsel at international firms Coudert Brothers (Shanghai) and Debevoise & Plimpton. When asked about his move into Beijing-based Global, Chang says it was an obvious choice. “I have experience both as an in-house and an international lawyer. PRC firms are quickly becoming the leaders of the massive legal market so, in terms of finding a propellant, I believe going into a PRC firm is it,” said Chang, who added that he now needs to tackle the challenge of building a new book of contacts.

At the same time, two partners Wang Xuelan and Liu Xuemei (who both started with Global in 2004) were promoted to the partnership. Both Wang and Liu share similar legal expertise – M&A, offshore and onshore IPO, foreign investment, PE, venture capital and capital markets, banking & finance, aviation, shipping and litigation & arbitration matters.
