Jeffrey Sun Jie, formerly Shanghai-based counsel with Latham & Watkins, has joined Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP (Orrick) as a partner in the China corporate group. Sun, based in Orrick's Shanghai office, will focus on capital markets, private equity investments, cross-border mergers & acquisitions and foreign direct investment financing transactions.
Sun believes there is a tremendous synergy between his practices and clients with Orrick, particularly in the finance, technology, internet and renewable energy sectors.
"I was attracted by Orrick's clear vision and commitment to China and the firm's reputation both regionally and as one of the world's leading emerging companies law firms in Silicon Valley," said Sun.
Before joining Latham & Watkins in 2009, Sun was a partner at Shanghai Pu Dong Law Office. He has an impressive track record advising Chinese and international companies in cross-border corporate and capital markets transactions. Last year he represented Chinese mobile phone application store Sky-mobi in its US$150m IPO on NASDAQ. Sun also represented online clothing retailer Mecox in its US$129m IPO on NASDAQ. ALB
