Sidley Austin has recently appointed Lan Tao as a partner at its Beijing office to strengthen its M&A and energy practices, following several other significant partner hires.
Lan has joined the firm from White & Case. He focuses on China-related inbound and outbound M&A transactions of a wide range of industries, particularly with experiences in representing China-based companies in connection with their investments in the energy and natural resources sectors.
Prior to Lan, Sidley Austin had added energy and M&A partners Tom Deegan in Hong Kong and Tju Liang Chua in Singapore.
“Tao’s wealth of experience in advising on complex cross-border M&A transactions makes him a valuable addition to our China-based and multinational clients, especially those interested in entering or expanding into the energy and national resources arena,” said Thomas Albrecht, managing partner, Asia-Pacific.
Lan is a Chinese national. He is admitted to the New York State Bar.
