Stephenson Harwood has hired Lynia Lau as a partner to head the firm’s China energy and resources practice.

Before joining Stephenson Harwood, Lau was a partner and chief representative of Clyde & Co’s Beijing office.

Lau primarily works with clients in the energy sector, and assists Chinese companies on their outbound transactions. She also specialises in M&A, financing, restructuring and project development.

Lau has worked on some notable projects and transactions over the past few years, including assisting China Merchants Holdings on its $10 billion Bagamoyo Special Economic Zone project in Tanzania, and representing the Shanghai-listed retail arm of Sanpower Group on its deal to buy 89 percent of British department store House of Fraser for $800 million.
