Forum Chairperson

Molly McQueen, Senior Vice President (Compliance), Clearwater Capital Partners 

Molly McQueen is Senior Vice President (Compliance) at Clearwater Capital Partners.  In this capacity, she serves as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer, Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer, Money Laundering Reporting Officer, and Data Protection Officer overseeing Clearwater’s compliance with respect the firm’s regulatory obligations globally, including in the United States, the European Union, Hong Kong, and Singapore, as well as the firm’s operations in China, India, South Korea, and the Cayman Islands. Prior to joining Clearwater, Ms. McQueen has held a number of legal and compliance positions within the industry during a career spanning close to 25 years, including at Deutsche Bank, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. 

Ms. McQueen obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from Scripps College, her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Gonzaga University School of Law, and her Masters of Law Degree, with distinction, from Georgetown University Law Center with a concentration in International & Comparative Law. As an undergraduate, Ms. McQueen also successfully completed two off-campus semester programs specializing in American Foreign Policy at American University’s Tenley Campus in Washington, D.C. and the European Economic Community at the Institute of European Studies on the Free University of Brussels’ French campus in Brussels, Belgium.

 


Speaker Profiles

Belle Png, Head of Legal, Asia, Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets plc

Belle has 16 years of legal experience in Asia Pacific, having joined Lloyds Banking Group in July 2016 from Barclays Bank and Linklaters to establish and lead the Lloyds Bank’s Legal, Asia team. She is both English and Singapore law qualified, with expertise in cross border structured leveraged finance and trade finance in numerous Asia Pacific jurisdictions, including Singapore, China and India. 

Over the course of her career, she has acted as lead counsel on numerous structured leveraged finance transactions both in Linklaters and during her secondment with Standard Chartered Bank. She also established the legal support and framework for the Barclays Corporate Bank in Asia as the sole counsel, and spearheaded numerous initiatives in her role, including streamlining documentation and legal processes to be more agile and improve speed to market as well as leading the inaugural Barclays Singapore Legal team charity fundraising event.

The key focus of her role with Lloyds Bank is to provide a legal function that supports the growth and manages legal risks of its Asian business, provides speedy legal service to support agile delivery by the business and offer Asia Pacific legal expertise.

 

Angela SM Ng, AVP & Senior Counsel, Asia, Manulife

Angela Ng is AVP, Regional Counsel in Manulife's Asia Legal team. Prior to joining Manulife (originally based in Hong Kong and now back in Singapore), Angela practised as a litigator and corporate lawyer in Singapore.  Angela holds a Bachelor of Laws, LLB (Hons), and a Master of Laws in Corporate & Financial Services, LLM (Distinction) and is an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore and a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. Angela spent seven years within the Regional Compliance team supporting the Asia territories on regulatory compliance matters, particularly serving as Program Lead for the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing, and Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption programs. As Regional Counsel, she provides transactional advice and support to regional projects, and to the local Legal Teams in Asia, with particular focus in relation to ASEAN territories. Leveraging on her strong regulatory compliance experience, Angela also assists in internal projects, covering proprietary functions involving government and industry workgroups, bancassurance-related activities, and participates in regulatory compliance oversight issues.

 

Warren Kim, Chief Compliance Officer, Asia Pacific, Schaeffler 

Warren is currently serving as the Chief Compliance Officer, Asia Pacific, at Schaeffler, an automotive and industrial supplier.  He is based in Singapore and oversees all regional compliance and security activities.  He also serves as the chair of the firm’s regional Compliance & Risk Committee.  

Prior to joining Schaeffler, Warren worked at an international financial institution in Basel and in private practice in New York, Seoul and Singapore, focusing on finance and regulatory matters.  

Warren received his law degrees from Goethe University, the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and Columbia Law School.  He is qualified to practice in New York and England and Wales, and is certified as a CIPP/E, CIPM, and CISM. 

 

Mark Tan, Managing Director, General Counsel, GLP Pte Ltd

Mark is the General Counsel of GLP. Mark is responsible for overseeing all legal matters, including regulatory compliance, contract negotiations on fund management transactions, acquisitions and dispositions and other significant transactions.

Prior to joining GLP, he was previously at Shearman & Sterling LLP, Singapore where he represented underwriters, issuers and private equity sponsors on debt and equity offerings. Previously, he also worked at Goldman Sachs and Sullivan & Cromwell LLP.

He received his Juris Doctor Honors from the University of Toronto and Bachelor of Mathematics in Computer Science, Economics Minor from the University of Waterloo. He is based in Singapore.

 

Victor Odtojan, Head Legal and Compliance, Aditya Birla Sun Life Asset Management Company Pte Ltd

Mr. Odtojan currently heads the Legal and Compliance Department at Aditya Birla Sun Life Asset Management Company Pte Ltd. He advises the company management, Board of Directors on all aspects of legal, regulatory, and compliance for offshore fund management business, covering Mauritius, Dubai and Singapore.

Mr. Odtojan has over 17 years of experience in legal, compliance and financial services, including private legal practice, asset management and private wealth management. Prior to joining ABSLAMC, Mr. Odtojan held senior positions at UBS Asset Management, Singapore Invesco Perpetual UK, and Credit Suisse Australia.

Mr. Odtojan is a registered solicitor in New South Wales, Australia and a Fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants. He graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Business (Accounting) from University of Technology, Sydney and Bachelor of Law from University of Western Sydney, Australia.

 

Thomas Ochensberger, Head of Compliance, Asia Pacific, M&G Investments

Mr. Ochensberger is the Head of Compliance, Asia Pacific at M&G Investments, based in Singapore. Before moving to Singapore in 2019, he spent 7 years in various buy and sell side Compliance roles in Hong Kong. He held roles as Vice President Compliance at HPS Investment Partners, covering public and private credit investments in the region and was the Compliance Director at CVC Capital Partner Asia, where he was responsible for the oversight and management of the APAC region's Compliance program and Compliance support for CVC’s private equity transactions. Before that, Mr. Ochensberger worked in Morgan Stanley's Firm Management Department, where he was responsible for new product approval governance and strategic initiatives across their Asia offices. Mr. Ochensberger joined Morgan Stanley in their London office in 2010 in the Operational Risk Department and relocated to Hong Kong in 2012. Prior to that, Mr. Ochensberger held various Compliance roles at Bank of New York Mellon, Insight Investment and Lehman Brothers Asset Management, his first job after graduation, in London. Mr. Ochensberger holds a BS in Economics from the University of Graz, Austria and has attend post-graduate courses at the London Schools of Economics and HKUST.

 

 

Azhar Azib, Founder and Principal Consultant, rawonionDecisions 

Azhar Azib is the Founder and Principal Consultant at rawonionDecisions. He specialises in helping companies transform into smart, data driven organisations. His last corporate role was as Regional Marketing Communications Director for Asia Pacific at Microsoft 

Today, his work spans all areas that come into contact with data, including Enterprise Information Architecture, Information Management and Governance, Data Driven Customer Strategy, Practice Reengineering, Business Analytics and compliance with Data Protection Legislation.

A Data Architect by training and a seasoned Database Marketer and Change Leader by practice, his 25 year corporate career with big brands like Microsoft, IBM and Global Sources has put him in many roles driving innovation, change and excellence in the way large corporations manage and use data to drive better connections with their customers and partners.

 

Azhar is also a Certified Information Privacy Manager and Technologist (CIPM, CIPT), accredited by the International Association of Privacy Professionals and a certified Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) professional.  He focuses on Operational Compliance in the Sales, Marketing and Communications area and provides advisory to enterprises to help them ‘get compliant’ and ‘stay compliant’ to the Singapore and International Privacy and Personal Data Protection legislation. Azhar currently sits on the Executive Committee of the Direct Marketing Association of Singapore (DMAS). 

 

 

Ondi Nababan, Senior Compliance Counsel, Johnson Controls

Ondi is a senior legal professional with passion for ethics & compliance. She has 17 years of experiences both as general counsel and compliance professional. She joined Johnson Controls International as Senior Compliance Counsel in September 2017 after spending over 10 years as General Counsel for Eastern Asia Pacific covering commercial legal and compliance with the high voltage transmission (Grid) business of Areva T&D (2006), which then became Alstom Grid in 2011 following acquisition by Alstom Group and finally became GE Grid Solutions after General Electric (GE) acquired Alstom’s Power businesses in 2015. She graduated from Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia and is currently based in Singapore.  

 

Dan Shea, Regional Director of Compliance & Litigation, Microsoft Asia

Dan Shea lives in Singapore and is Microsoft’s Regional Director of Compliance & Litigation for Asia.  Dan leads Microsoft’s internal compliance investigations and litigation throughout Asia. Dan joined Microsoft in 2009 and his experience there has included providing global labor and employment law support, as well as conducting and directing global investigations. His extensive experience in investigative work also includes nearly a decade as a litigator in the insurance industry.

 

Wendy De Cruz, Director of Business Development, APAC, The Red Flag Group®

Wendy is the Director of Business Development Asia Pacific and is mostly based where mandates take her throughout Asia. Wendy has over twenty years of leadership and advisory experience.

Aside from her familiarity with the FCPA and UK Bribery Act, her experience with the highly regulated Financial Markets are highly valued when she works with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Audit and Finance teams regardless of verticals, geographies and organisational size.  Her experience with product development gives her deeper appreciation of the rigors around third party screening, false positive management, due diligence methodologies allows her to provide FIT FOR PURPOSE guidance to clients regardless of where they are in their compliance, ethics and integrity programmes.

Wendy spends most of her time helping Asian brands prioritise areas that need addressing based on the ever changing business, regulatory and political headwinds. This means articulating the firm’s best practices when working with them on constructing their Codes, Policies, Procedures and Controls.  As the industry continues to evolve in certain parts of Asia; she provides practical approaches to risk assessments, the use of technology, certification and outsourcing options to more established global brands who need to move away from the compliance burden into more strategic tasks.  This then allows them to remain competitive in today’s highly disruptive landscape.

 

Although known to be an Asian expert, Wendy spent time studying in Australia and worked in the US and the UK.  Her work experience has also seen her live in Indonesia, India and China.  Wendy is proficient in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and French.

 

Natalie Lau, Data Analytics Specialist, Consilio

Natalie is a member of Consilio’s dedicated Data Analytics Team, specializing in Technology Assisted Review and the utilization of leading analytics tools to drive review efficiencies and reduce costs in eDiscovery projects.  She regularly consults with Corporate in-house and outside counsels in leveraging the latest technologies to best suit their needs and achieve the most desirable outcomes in a timely and cost-efficient manner.

Natalie holds the titles of Relativity Master and Brainspace Certified Analyst and has in-depth knowledge of the latest market-leading tools and their many features and capabilities.  

Natalie is also a non-practicing lawyer and previously worked in a leading international law firm prior to transitioning into the eDiscovery industry, bringing with her a wealth of Legal knowledge that enables her to provide strong and comprehensive consultation to clients.  

 

Siobhan Cool, Head of Regional Compliance (Latin America, Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa), Mundipharma Singapore Holding Pte. Limited

Siobhan is an experienced Compliance professional who has worked in the pharmaceutical, aviation, banking and higher education sectors for more than 15 years.  She has designed and implemented compliance programs and overseen governance practices for both public and private companies in the UK, Asia Pacific, Latin America and Middle East.   

Siobhan graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from Queensland University of Technology and holds a Master of Laws degree (specialising in Intellectual Property) from the University of Queensland. She is a member of the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association.

 

Debbie Chau, Compliance Director-Asia Pacific, Global Compliance, McDonald's Corporation

Debbie Chau is APAC Compliance Director of McDonald’s Corporation.  Based out of the Singapore Global Office, she heads up the regional compliance function with an oversight responsibility of the global business ethics and compliance program across all McDonald’s markets in the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa regions.

Debbie started at McDonald’s in 2013 as General Counsel for Hong Kong, where she led the legal and compliance functions for the McDonald’s market business operation.  During her tenure, she was a member of the market leadership team and served on the company’s board of directors. 

Prior to joining McDonald’s, Debbie was an experienced corporate lawyer in private practice with a few leading international law firms, specialized in mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, securities offerings, public takeovers and privatizations.

Debbie earned a Bachelor of Laws degree, a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws and a Postgraduate Certificate in Chinese Civil & Commercial Law from The University of Hong Kong.  She is a Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional and licensed to practice law in Hong Kong and the England & Wales. 

 

Gerald Tan, Head of Legal, Asia, ICBC Standard Bank

Gerald Tan is the Head of Legal, Asia, ICBC Standard Bank PLC, Singapore Branch.  He is a senior legal and banking professional with over 20 years of experience in legal private practice, risk management, commodities trading , operations, banking and finance.  Prior to joining ICBC Standard Bank, he was the Head of Commodities Legal, Asia, Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He has also served as a senior manager in Treasury and Market Operations, as well as transaction management in his previous roles in banking and finance. Gerald is currently Co-Chair of the Asia-Pacific Commodities Committee for the International Swaps and Derivatives Association. He is currently a Board Member of Credit Counselling Singapore, and previously served for 6 years on the Board of Gardens by the Bay, Singapore.
