Jingtian behind China leading chipmaker’s $368 mln STAR Market IPO
Jingtian & Gongcheng has advised Chinese chipmaker Loongson Technology on its $368 million initial public offering on Shanghai’s STAR Market. Loongson became China’s first stock in the field of central processing unit.
Founded in 2001 in Beijing and formerly a research team under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Loongson was spun off as a separate entity to commercialize its chip development research in 2010. The firm was behind China's first self-developed general purpose microprocessor. It also created the architecture for central processing units, or CPUs. The company plays an important role for China to strengthen the security of supply chains and achieve self-sufficiency in crucial technologies.
The IPO proceeds will be spent on research and production of advanced semiconductor technologies, and also be used as liquid capital.
CITIC Securities acted as the sole sponsor in the transaction.
