Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, Clifford Chance and CM Law Firm have represented Hong-Kong based Futu Securities International on its $90 million Nasdaq initial public offering, with Latham & Watkins and Han Kun Law Offices advising the underwriters.
Futu Securities International, founded in 2012, is a fully digitized brokerage platform that is backed by Tencent Holdings. Its IPO comes at a time when China’s market for online brokerage services is emerging and rapidly evolving. In 2018, the trading volume of China’s overseas online retail securities market reached $451.6 billion, with the figure expected to grow to nearly $1.8 trillion in 2023.
The Skadden team advising the issuer on U.S. law was led by partner Julie Gao, while the Clifford Chance team advising on Hong Kong law was led by Tim Wang and Fang Liu, supported by partners Mark Shipman and Virginia Lee. The CM Law Firm team advising the issuer on PRC law was led by partner Xiaoliang Wu.
