Mr. Shawn Chen, the Managing Director of SSQ in China, shared their observations on the developments in Chinese legal market in the past year: “The most obvious development we have seen is the quick rise of the international-Chinese alliance firms. We saw more partners and associates joining these alliances from both leading PRC firms and the first-tier international law firms. The other notable development is the continued growth of the Chinese law firms under the Big 4 accountancies’ brand: KPMG became the last Big 4 to launch a dedicated legal practice in China in 2019 while the other three were all expanding their law firm teams in Beijing and Shanghai last year.”
