Baker & McKenzie has received approval from the Korean authorities to open an office on the ground in Seoul.

The Seoul office, which will open its doors on May 21, will be the firm’s 15th in Asia and 73rd globally. Nam Hung Paik, a veteran lawyer with 25 years of experience, will head the new office alongside two other lawyers.

The new office will offer advice to Korean clients on outbound legal matters including M&A, projects, banking and finance, antitrust, intellectual property, disputes, and compliance.

In the last two years, Baker & McKenzie has set up shop in South Africa, Morocco, Peru, Turkey and Qatar. The firm is also set to open in Dubai once it merges with United Arab Emirates’ Habib Al Mulla on July 1.
