Following its merger with Barlow Lyde & Gilbert, Clyde & Co. has promoted labour law specialist Matthew Durham, previously a lawyer with BLG, to partnership at the newly combined firm’s Shanghai office.
Durham has worked in China for more than 10 years and has advised on many labour law and employment issues, spanning from due diligence in mergers and acquisitions to drafting of employment contracts, polices on and outsourcing of human resources functions, restrictive covenants and employment redundancies.
Durham also advises on general corporate and commercial issues such as foreign direct investment, M&As, reorganizations and joint ventures.
Durham joined BLG in September 2010 as a senior consultant. He was previously with Simmons & Simmons in Shanghai.
His promotion follows the firm’s recent appointments in its Shanghai office, where corporate insurance partner Michael Cripps joined from Insurance Australia Group and Carrier Yang was promoted to partnership, both in the insurance group. ALB
