Chinese powerhouse Dacheng Law Offices’ Singapore joint venture has expanded its Indian desk to cover Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka as well.
The newly formed South Asia practice of Dacheng Wong Alliance will be headed by India-qualified lawyer Yang Yen Thaw, who was head of the firm’s India desk. It will assist international companies doing business in South Asia, as well as companies from that part of the world that seek to do business in Southeast Asia and China.
Yang, who has 20 years of legal experience, was named co-head of the India practice in June 2012.
“With increased interest in the Indian sub-continent along with the induction of cultural and language capability within our firm, we are able to handhold clients in this region,” said Aloysius Wee, the managing principal of DCWA, in a statement. “This expansion is in keeping with increasing the international footprint of Dacheng.”
Last year, DCWA signed an MOU with Vietnamese law firm Indochine Counsel to jointly develop that firm’s South Asia practice.
