Fangda Partners has entered into a strategic alliance with Hunan Qiyuan Law Firm for cooperation across a range of practice areas. 

Under the agreement, Fangda and Qiyuan will retain their own names and brands, but will combine their resources. 

Founded in 1994, Qiyuan has an established reputation in Hunan Province and south-central China, particularly in its domestic IPO, securities and capital markets matters. Meanwhile, the 600-lawyer Fangda has offices in Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Shenzhen offices.

“Qiyuan has an impressive roster of large enterprises and public company clients in Hunan. Through our cooperation, we will support Qiyuan to become a leading firm in Central China handling cross-border and multi-jurisdictional transactions and cases,” said Jonathan Zhou, chair of the Fangda Management Committee.

“We will boost Fangda’s cross-border strength and further enhance Fangda’s capabilities in insolvency and restructuring, complex dispute resolution and government compliance,” said Aiping Yuan, managing partner at Qiyuan.
