Germany and PRC-qualified lawyer Dong Yiliang recently joined Global Law Office to head its German desk.

The addition of Dong as a counsel to the Beijing-headquartered firm is poised to beef up Global’s support for PRC investment and acquisitions in Germany and Europe, and to facilitate German companies’ investment into China.

Dong retains his position as a counsel of German commercial firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, where he heads its China desk.

An expert in German and PRC laws, Dong has substantial experience in advising on transnational deals between China, Germany and Europe. His specialty lies in foreign direct investment, mergers and acquisitions, merger control and anti-monopoly regulations, overseas initial public offerings, enforcement of international commercial arbitration, and covers regulations related to the telecommunications and insurance industries.

Dong said that the collaboration between the two firms would go beyond client referrals and joint legal services for individual client projects. He said lawyers from each law firm’s practice groups would have regular exchange of know-how, particularly in areas such as intellectual property, litigation and dispute resolution.

“The two firms will host events and forums for our German and Chinese clients on specific topics such as cross-border M&A, IPO in Germany, private equity, fund investment as well as taxation,” he said.
