Grandall Law Firm recently hired intellectual property law expert Simon Fang Shilong to enhance the IP capability of its Shanghai office.
Fang assumed his new role as a partner at Grandall from December 1 together with four other attorneys who also joined the firm’s Shanghai office. Their additions are aimed to better serve the firm’s clients in Shanghai, and strengthen its IP advisory offerings nationwide along with its existing offices in Beijing and Shenzhen.
An expert in intellectual property law, Fang is experienced in IP transactions, litigations, trademark registrations, and patent applications.
Admitted in PRC bar, Fang is also a licensed China Patent Agent and Technology Broker.
He is experienced in formulating IP strategies, evaluating IP assets, and negotiating transaction agreements. He has also managed IP portfolios for mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital investments, as well as research and development purposes.
He has advised clients on patent invalidation, trademark re-examination, and judicial review of administrative decisions in addition to civil and criminal litigation against infringements.
Prior to joining Grandall, Fang worked at Win&King Law Firm and Win&King Intellectual Property Company from 2007 to 2011. Before that, he was with AllBright Law Offices from 2001 to 2007.
Some of the representative IP advisory work he has handled includes patent litigation and enforcement cases of Spanish lighting product company INDAL since 2009, representing General Motors in their unfair competition litigation against Chery Automobile, and advising Shanghai Media Group to stop infringers from transmitting FIFA World Cup broadcast over mobile networks and the Internet in 2006.
Fang also advised Shanghai Stock Exchange on its New Generation Trading System with the cooperation of Deutsche Börse, Accenture, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, CISCO, Huawei and Baosteel’s software company. ALB
