Dr Nongfan Zhu has joined King & Wood’s Beijing office as partner and co-head of the firm’s intellectual property practice.
Zhu joins the firm from China Science Patent and Trademark Agent, after five years as president. He previously worked as senior counsel for General Electric Company in Asia Pacific, and has also worked at US law firm, Pennie & Edmonds.
In addition, Zhu was chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce — Shanghai’s intellectual property subcommittee, between 2002 and 2005, and is currently the vice chair of ABA’s TIPS Intellectual Property Law Committee.
Zhu’s extensive experience advising on both Chinese and US intellectual property matters includes IP asset management and protection, licensing and cross-border transactions as well as litigation and dispute resolution.
His qualifications include a juris doctor from New York Law School and a PhD from Columbia University. He is a member of the New York State Bar and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
