King & Wood Mallesons has hired corporate partner Ling Huang as a partner in Beijing, poaching her from Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton.

Huang has significant experience on cross-border M&A and corporate matters, handling areas such as aviation, energy, financial services, insurance, leisure and entertainment, media, pharmaceuticals, technology, and communications, etc. 

Huang’s arrival serves a valuable addition to the firm’s U.S. law practice. 

Huang, a New York-qualified lawyer, also practiced at Shearman & Sterling in Beijing for nearly two decades and was appointed as partner in 2009 before leaving for Cleary in 2012. 

With Huang’s departure, Cleary’s Beijing office is left with one corporate partner Denise Shiu and eight other fee-earners. Shiu, who splits her time between the firm’s Beijing and Hong Kong offices, will take over as chief representative of Cleary’s Beijing office. 

Huang’s appointment is the first major international partner hire in KWM China since last year after seeing a small number of partners leaving. In May 2017, the firm lost Simon Meng to Linklaters. In June 2017, Fangda Partners grabs Zili Shao. In April 2018, Martyn Huckerby joined PwC’s HK member law firm Tiang & Co and in May 2018, former antitrust partner Hazel Yin left for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

金杜律师事务所北京办公室迎来前美国佳利律师事务所合伙人

前美国佳利律师事务所合伙人黄玲作为合伙人加入金杜律师事务所北京办公室。

黄玲律师在跨境并购与公司业务领域具有丰富的执业经验，项目涵盖航空、能源、金融、保险、休闲娱乐、传媒、医药、科技等多个领域。

黄玲律师的加入，将进一步增强金杜的美国公司业务。

黄玲律师具备纽约州律师执业资格，加入金杜之前，早先在美国谢尔曼▪斯特灵律师事务所执业近20年并在2009年升至合伙人。2012年，又转至美国佳利律师事务所做合伙人。

目前佳利律师事务所只有一位公司业务合伙人Denise Shiu及八名律师。Denise Shiu兼在北京办公室和香港办公室执业，也将继黄玲律师离开后担任佳利律师事务所北京办公室的首席代表 。

近两年，金杜中国区相继有几位合伙人离开转向其他所，包括：去年5月原上海办公室公司业务合伙人孟生律师加入年利达律师事务所，去年6月原中国管委会联席主席邵子力先生加入方达律师事务所，今年4月原上海办公室公司业务合伙人Martyn Huckerby加入程伟宾律师事务所，今年5月原北京办公室反垄断合伙人尹冉冉加入英国富而德律师事务所。黄玲律师是金杜中国区近两年招来的第一位重量级国际所合伙人。
