SemiLEDs Corporation has become the first Taiwanese LED manufacturer to hit the NADAQ Global Select Market after its US$102m IPO. The proceeds of the offering, which closed just before Christmas 2010, will be used to expand production capacity in Taiwan, including the purchase of three additional reactors to manufacture LED wafers before the end of this year.
An Orrick team led by Greater China partners Mark Lee, Thomas Tobiason and assisted by Silicon Valley-based Harold Yu, advised SemiLEDs on the issue. The company turned to Taiwanese heavyweight Lee and Li for local law advice, while they tapped Haiwen & Partners at to PRC law. The underwriters, which included, among others, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Barclays Capital, and Jeffries & Company, were represented by Wilson Sonsini.
