Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan plans to set up shop in Hong Kong, and has hired arbitration lawyer John Rhie from Kim & Chang to head the office.

Rhie, who was a senior foreign attorney at Kim & Chang, will move to Hong Kong as chair of Quinn Emanuel’s Asian international arbitration practice.

Quinn Emanuel New York partner Carey Ramos will relocate to Hong Kong to join Rhie as a senior partner. Ramos, who specialises in TMT disputes and international arbitration, will work with Rhie to develop the firm’s Asian international arbitration practice.

The Hong Kong office, which is subject to regulatory approval, will be the firm’s 14th.
