Dacheng Law Offices, one of the largest law firms in Asia and the first Chinese firm to enter into a joint law venture (JLV) in Singapore, has severed ties with its original partner, Central Chambers, and formed a new JLV with Wong Alliance. The new venture will be called Dacheng Wong Alliance (DCWA).

Aloysius Wee Meng Seng, managing principal at DCWA, was instrumental in setting up the initial venture between Dacheng and Central Chambers. Having shifted his practice from Central Chambers to Wong Alliance, he also moved across his team and was involved in forming a new joint law venture with Dacheng.

This strategic venture will strengthen the footprints of both the firms across the ASEAN region, China and India.

In 2011, the ALB 50 ranked Dacheng Law Offices as Asia’s biggest law firm with over 2000 lawyers across its offices in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

Wong Alliance is a full-service Singapore-based law firm with particular expertise in advising on Indonesia and Timor-Leste related transactions.

DCWA comprises of Singapore, China and India qualified lawyers, and will handle corporate and commercial law, M&As, foreign investments, intellectual property, real estate, and international arbitration matters.

“The joint law venture is a regional office based in Singapore. We see ASEAN and China work as a key area where we can develop and grow. Having the Wong Alliance platform allows us to have the support of a very experienced team in Singapore and Indonesia already handling such regional work,” said Wee. ALB
