Chengdu-headquartered Tahota Law Firm has opened a new office in the city of Xi’an in Shaanxi Province, its 12th domestic office till date.

Tahota, which has additional five overseas offices, says the new office will focus on dispute resolution, merger and acquisitions, restructuring, real estate construction, bankruptcy and liquidation, finance and securities, cultural and tourism, PPP, tax, criminal compliance, intellectual property, cross-border arbitration.

The Xi’an office has a total headcount of more than 150 people, including 120 associates, on par with the top three local firms in terms of size. Ziqi Yao, the President of Xi’an Lawyers Association, will lead the new office, with Long Zhang serving as the executive partner. Other key hires include Ping Chen, Miao Li, Chunnuan Du, Chunhong Dong, Xiaolong Wang and Qiang Xu.

The opening of the Xi’an office marks an important step for the firm, Tahota said. Its strategic position will enable the firm to better explore other northwestern provinces and regions in China, namely Qinghai, Xinjiang and Gansu, and also facilitate work in countries in Central and Western Asia.
