U.S. firm Faegre Baker Daniels recently brought China labour law specialist Kevin Jones on board after it poached him from the Shanghai office of DLA Piper. Jones has joined Faegre as a partner to head its labour and employment practice in China.

A seasoned China expert with more than 16 years of work experience in Greater China, Jones has advised many multinationals and companies on both contentious and non-contentious labour issues. In particular, he specialises in employment matters resulting from mergers and acquisitions, and company restructurings. He has also advised on issues related to labour disputes, trade unions, and collective contracts. Jones’ clients come from a broad range of sectors including retail, luxury goods, biotechnology, health care, and TMT.

Speaking on the development, Scott Wright, head of Faegre’s labour and employment practice, said: "Kevin's addition to our China Practice adds to our depth and experience in this important market, as part of our international Labour and Employment Law team."

Faegre Baker Daniels was formed after the merger of law firms Faegre & Benson and Baker & Daniels in January this year. The new firm boasts of more than 800 legal and consulting staff, which makes it one of the largest law firms in the U.S.

With law offices in the U.S., London, Beijing and Shanghai, Faegre also has a consulting arm, FaegreBD Consulting, an advisory and advocacy unit, located in Washington D.C. ALB
