DeHeng, Yingke explore new opportunities in Southeast Asia
DeHeng opens in Laos
Beijing-headquartered DeHeng Law Offices has recently opened its first office in Southeast Asia in Vientiane, Laos. The firm's director, Jia Hui, will be leading the Laos branch.
Laos is a landlocked country in the northern part of the Indo-China Peninsula, bordered by China in the north. The China-Laos Economic Corridor is a significant project under the "Belt and Road," aimed at enhancing economic development and regional connectivity between the two countries.
In a press release, DeHeng stated that the new office will provide a series of high-quality legal services for the economic activities between China and Laos.
Yingke ventures into the Thai market
Meanwhile, Yingke Law Firm, also based in Beijing, established its Thailand office in Bangkok recently, and the new office will be led by partner Wang Qianqian as the executive director.
Yingke's Thailand office is the first branch established by the firm in an ASEAN country. Positioned as a strategic centre within the ASEAN Economic Community, the office's successful opening will further strengthen Yingke's international legal network and enhance its global "One-Hour" legal service offering. This will lay a solid foundation for providing high-quality legal services related to Thailand and Southeast Asia to Yingke's clients.
In 2017, Yingke had already made its presence in Thailand by signing a cooperation agreement with DFDL, a law firm serving South and Southeast Asia. DFDL joined the "Yingke Global Legal Service Alliance" to assist Yingke with legal needs in Southeast Asia, including Thailand.
However, in October 2021, Yingke announced the dissolution of the Alliance and ceased all related activities.
Subsequently, in early 2022, Yingke established the Yingke ASEAN Centre, aiming to provide comprehensive and one-stop commercial legal services for mutual investments and trade activities between Chinese and ASEAN countries. This move marked Yingke's independent expansion into the Southeast Asian market, and the Thailand office will also support this centre.
