Xuesong Zhang, a Beijing-based counsel with Zhong Lun Law Firm specializing in intellectual property, has passed away. He was 48.

Zhang joined Zhong Lun in 2015 as a counsel. Before that, he worked at the IP tribunal of Beijing Higher People’s Court for two decades, including as a judge since 2000. Many of the cases adjudicated by him were named among the Top 10 IP cases in Beijing and in China. He was particularly involved in developing guidelines related to the compensation for copyright infringement. 

At Zhong Lun, Zhang’s practice focused on intellectual property, litigation and arbitration, antitrust and competition law. His clients included multinationals like Qualcomm and Sony, and also domestic companies like China Jinmao, Sino-Ocean Group, Tencent, JD.com, Sina and Qiaodan Sports. He represented China Jinmao in obtaining China’s first two litigation injunctions in trademark infringement cases in the real estate sector. 

“Zhang will always be remembered dearly as a great IP expert with integrity and kindness. His expertise, being helpful and always willing to share, have won him much admiration from us. We and all who knew him will miss his warmth, generosity, humility and thoughtful insight,” the obituary said.

中伦律师事务所沉痛悼念张雪松同志

中伦律师事务所顾问、毕生从事知识产权事业的张雪松同志于北京时间2019年3月2日离世，英年48岁。

2016年，张雪松同志加入北京市中伦律师事务所担任顾问。在此之前，在北京市高级人民法院知识产权庭工作了二十年，2000年起担任法官、副庭长等职。张雪松同志审理的诸多案件被评为“北京市十大知识产权案件”及“全国法院十大知识产权案件”，他主持或参与制定了北京市高级人民法院关于著作权侵权损害赔偿规定等多个重要规范性意见。

张雪松同志的主要执业领域为知识产权、诉讼与仲裁、反垄断和竞争法。在中伦担任顾问期间，参与了众多具有重大影响力的案件，服务的客户中既有高通、索尼等跨国企业，也有中国金茂、远洋集团等大型国企，涵盖腾讯、京东、新浪等领先互联网公司，以及乔丹体育等知名民企。他襄助中国金茂取得了国内首两例房地产领域商标侵权案诉讼禁令等行业典范案例。

“雪松同志一生为人正直、仁义、宽厚。作为一位德艺双馨的知识产权专家，雪松同志在事务所内部合作中体现了可贵的包容共享精神，深得同事的尊重和敬佩。雪松同志一生豁达、坦荡、淡泊，尝求古仁人之心，不以物喜，不以己悲。斯人虽逝，风骨长青。”中伦律师事务所在其悼文中写道。
