Allen & Overy has promoted four lawyers to partnership across Asia. The promotions, which are part of a total of 23 worldwide, are expected to reinforce the firm’s Asian practice.
The four promotions, which will come into effect in May, include banking partner Cindy Lo in Beijing, corporate partner Vivian Yiu in Hong Kong, banking partner Matt Bisley in Shanghai, and corporate partner Brendan Hannigan in Singapore.
“The new partners promoted in Asia-Pacific are representative of some of the younger talent we have in the region,” Thomas Brown, managing partner of Allen & Overy Asia-Pacific said in a statement.
Of the 23 promoted partners worldwide, nine are women and 17 work outside A&O’s headquarters in London. They are spread out over the firm’s antitrust, banking, corporate, employment, capital markets and litigation practices.
“These global promotions reflect the cross border nature of our work and the strength of our international network; the largest of any of the elite law firms. The retention of our female lawyers up until the partnership level remains one of our key priorities, and it is great to see us continue to strengthen that aspect of business in Asia in particular,” said A&O managing partner Wim Dejonghe.
