Beijing- headquartered Jingtian & Gongcheng has established a disputes practice in Hong Kong after hired two lawyers from RPC: Gary Yin, who was a partner, and senior consultant Ben Yates.
The announcement comes shortly after Jingtian said it was merging with Hong Kong boutique L&C Legal, the firm with which it has been in an association since September 2018.
Yin who was an RPC partner for seven years, has experience in cross-border commercial and trade, company shareholders and directors, joint ventures, licensing agreements, and shipping and logistics disputes. He leads on arbitration and court cases for Hong Kong, Mainland Chinese and foreign entities.
Yates, the former leader of RPC’s cyber incident response service, ReSecure, in Hong Kong, is also a disputes specialist. Additionally, his practice areas include fintech, cyber law, data protection and fraud, as well as bitcoin and blockchain.
“The addition of the duo will bring their deep experience in the licensing requirements of innovative technologies and related products, namely artificial intelligence, blockchain, cryptocurrency exchanges and cryptocurrencies, tokens, and securities,” said Elaine Lo, incoming senior partner of the Hong Kong office upon conclusion of the merger.
The hires of Yin and Yates take the number of Jingtian partners in Hong Kong to eight.

叶子彬律师也是争议解决业务专家，曾在RPC律师行香港分行担任网络安全战略和事件响应负责人。叶子彬律师的执业范围包括处理与金融科技、网络安全法、数据保护和商业欺诈领域的相关诉讼和仲裁。此外，叶律师在比特币安全及区块链技术的实施、使用的许可、合规及争议方面也有独到经验。
