Jones Day has promoted 34 lawyers to its partnership worldwide, including four appointments in Asia.

The new partners are energy expert Joanne Du in Hong Kong, capital markets specialist Joelle Lau in Hong Kong, and disputes lawyers Ming-Wei Lo and Takashi Tanazawa in Taipei and Tokyo, respectively.

Du advises companies in the energy sector on M&A, joint ventures, investments and operations.

Lau represents issuers and underwriters on initial public offerings in Hong Kong, and also advises on M&A, private equity and corporate finance.

Lo handles both civil and criminal cases arising from the Securities and Exchanges Act, and counsels public companies and their directors on corporate governance matters.

Tanazawa’s dispute practice covers product liability cases, contract and labour disputes, bankruptcy and corporate matters.
