Sonali Khemka, Lead Editor, Hong Kong Lawyer (the official journal of The Law Society of Hong Kong)
Sonali joined Hong Kong Lawyer in December 2020 where she is responsible for all aspects of the journal, from commissioning and writing to editing and also overseeing the production process, along with the website and newsletter. Prior to joining Hong Kong Lawyer, Sonali worked at LexisNexis as a Commissioning Editor where she was in charge of all corporate law related offerings and products. At her time there, she oversaw a number of notable titles such as the Hong Kong Securities Law Handbook, Hong Kong Company Law Handbook, amongst others. Sonali has a Masters in Journalism from the University of Hong Kong and a LLB from the University of Nottingham.
Niall Grady, Group Chief Compliance Officer, FWD Insurance

Based in Hong Kong, Niall is the Group Chief Compliance Officer for FWD Group Holdings Limited. Niall has over 25 years of Risk and Compliance experience with Ford Motor Credit Co, Prudential Plc, Eastspring Investments and FWD and is a Fellow of the International Compliance Association (ICA). Niall has worked in pan-Asian roles for the past 16 years and in his current role Niall is accountable for the effectiveness of FWD Group’s Compliance and Operational Risk Management Frameworks which includes responsibility for Anti-Bribery and Corruption under a wider Financial Crime Compliance programme. Niall is also a member of the Global Insurance Chief Compliance Officers Forum (CCO Forum) where he chairs the forums Conduct Risk Working Group.
Raymond Min-Yaw Goh, Group General Counsel, CTH Group

Raymond was the Group General Counsel of CTH Group with oversight of the legal and compliance, enterprise risk management, corporate governance, and regulatory affairs of the Group’s international operations, principal investments, and strategic initiatives around the world.
He has received various industry awards over the years and was recognized as one of the most influential corporate counsels in the Legal 500 GC Powerlist for China and Hong Kong in 2017.
Prior to joining CTH Group, he spent more than 20 years in various senior management, corporate development, and enterprise risk management roles with multinational diversified conglomerates, a leading bulge bracket investment bank, and in private practice with Magic Circle and Wall Street law firms where he focused on capital markets transactions, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, technology, media and telecommunications, strategic initiatives, and principal investments across North America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia.
Raymond is a graduate of Columbia Law School, New York, and The Wharton School’s Advanced Management Program for Senior Executives.
Vincent Liu, Chief Counsel - Asia: Director of Risk and Safety, AECOM
Vincent is the Chief Counsel – Asia Pacific for AECOM. Previously, he was a Partner from the Construction team of International Firm, Holman Fenwick Willan. Vincent is a specialist construction and dispute resolution lawyer with nearly 20 years of post-admission experience in New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Western Australia and Hong Kong SAR. His principal areas of practice include construction and engineering (front end and back end), dispute resolution, administrative law and ethics and compliance. Whilst at AECOM, Vincent has also acted as the APAC Chief Compliance Officer responsible for administering AECOM’s ethics and compliance policies and systems and carrying out internal investigations with an Asia-Pacific focus
Alexander Shaik, Equity Partner and General Counsel, ADM Capital
Mr. Alexander Shaik is an Equity Partner and General Counsel of ADM Capital.
He has 25 years legal and commercial experience working on corporate and structured finance transactions. Mr. Shaik has been involved in over 150 innovative private credit and equity transactions in most of the key Emerging Markets across Asia and Eastern Europe, including Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Bulgaria, Croatia, Japan, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Australia and New Zealand.
Before joining ADM Capital in 2005, Alexander Shaik was employed in the Hong Kong office of the US law firm, Sidley Austin, and he has also worked with the Tokyo office of UK magic circle firm, Allen & Overy.
Mr Shaik’s role involves supervising legal, structuring, execution and regulatory issues arising in respect of the ADM Capital Group’s private credit investments in the Asia-Pacific region
Maggie Qiu, Head of Sanctions, Financial Crime Compliance - Greater China & North Asia, Standard Chartered Bank Hong Kong

Maggie Qiu is the Head of Sanctions of Greater China and North Asia at Standard Chartered Bank, which has the responsibilities managing the Sanctions and BIS Compliance Program for the region. Prior to joining Standard Chartered, she was the Regional Program Director, Global Financial Crimes Compliance for Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and was responsible for regulatory exams, audit, regulatory changes, compliance Monitoring & Testing, issue management, Policy and Program, Risk Assessments, and trainings for 12 jurisdictions in the Asia Pacific region.
Before relocated to Hong Kong on January 2014, Ms. Qiu was the Head of FCC & MLRO for Bank of American China and led its Anti-Money Laundering and Economic Sanctions efforts for all branches in China. She had been in that role since 2010, and previously, Ms. Qiu worked for Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) in Bank of America’s Global Headquarter in North Carolina. Before joining Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Ms. Qiu also held various risk management roles in Wachovia, and Wells Fargo based in US. Ms. Qiu received her master’s degree from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA. She is a frequent speaker at international seminars and conferences for topics related to Financial Crimes Compliance, Sanctions, regulatory compliance, Fintech and digital assets. Maggie is also an early investor in Bitcoin.
Adam Au, council Member & Honorary Treasurer, Institute of Big Data Governance
Adam Au is a general counsel and data protection officer of a Hong Kong-listed healthcare service provider with operations in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. He has worked at international law firms as well as as an in-house counsel at private equity funds, family office and other financial institutions. His experience ranges from private equity, M&A and other capital markets transactions to data privacy and other regulatory compliance across the Asia-Pacific region. His primary focus is on emerging technology, venture capital, data protection, and healthcare. Adam is also an experienced data protection officer with qualifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and ISACA including CIPP (Europe), CIPP (Asia), CIPT, CIPM and CDPSE. He has been elected as a Fellow of Information Privacy under IAPP.
Adam holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and East Asian Studies from Brown University, a Bachelor and Master of Arts in Law from the University of Oxford, and a Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Sloan Fellow.
Nicholas Turner, Managing Associate General Counsel - Financial Crime Legal Advisory, HSBC

Nick Turner is Managing Associate General Counsel for Global Financial Crimes Legal Advisory at HSBC in Hong Kong. Prior to joining HSBC, Nick was in private practice in Hong Kong, where he advised multinational financial institutions and corporates on all aspects of compliance with economic sanctions, anti-money laundering, and anti-bribery and corruption laws and regulations. Nick previously served as a regional sanctions compliance officer for Citi in Hong Kong and as a Management Associate for Citi in the United States. He is licensed to practice law in New York and is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).
Ben Brooke-Cowden, APAC Regional Ethics & Compliance Head, CSL
After starting out at the international law firm, Norton Rose, Ben has worked for global MNCs across Tech, FMCG and Pharma in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and the UK as a commercial lawyer and, more recently, compliance director. Ben currently oversees the APAC Ethics & Compliance function for the Australian Biopharmaceutical company, CSL, the second largest company on the ASX. Previously, as Global Legal & Compliance Director in the UK for Reckitt, a FTSE top 10 company, Ben established Reckitt’s Competition Law Centre of Excellence, Economic Crimes compliance programme and Reckitt’s Group Privacy Office and Privacy programme in time for GDPR and its counterparts across the globe. Ben brings a wealth of experience and a deep interest in all aspects of setting up and managing in-house legal and compliance departments.
George Lam, Chief Compliance Officer - Legal & Regulatory, HGC Global Communications Limited

George is a seasoned governance, risk and compliance (GRC) executive with 20+ years of experiences in corporate compliance program, internal controls, risk management and information / cyber security. He currently leads the Compliance & Risk function of HGC Global Communications, a global telecommunications operator and ICT services provider with 2,000 employees worldwide. Prior to joining HGC, George served as the Asia Pacific Regional Compliance Director for Fresenius Medical Care and Walmart Asia. George started his career at Deloitte’s risk advisory practice in Hong Kong and Beijing. He received his EMBA and BBA (Professional Accountancy) degrees from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. George is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Information Systems Auditor and Certified Internal Auditor.
