Disputes and investigations boutique firm Kobre & Kim has opened an office in Shanghai, the U.S.-based firm’s first in mainland China and third in Asia following office launches in Seoul in 2015 and Hong Kong in 2010.

The Shanghai office will have three lawyers, headed by partner Shaun Wu – a Shanghai native who relocated from Hong Kong  and will focus on international joint venture disputes and government investigations involving China. The other two are Wade Weems, a former U.S. Department of Justice prosecutor who recently joined the firm, and associate Nan Wang, another Shanghai native.

“We provide two specialized offerings through our Shanghai office: an on-the-ground team focused on investigations for multinational companies with operations in China and expertise in China–foreign joint venture disputes involving multiple jurisdictions, in particular Hong Kong, BVI, Cayman Islands and other offshore jurisdictions,” said Wu in a statement.
