高盖茨律师事务所近日在中国北京设立知识产权代理机构，可直接与中国国家知识产权局（CNIPA）开展合作，处理商标申请及相关诉讼业务。

高盖茨中国知识产权代理机构的设立意味着该所能够独立处理所有在华商标业务，包括提交申请、处理异议、撤销和更新等，不再依赖与国内律所的合作。高盖茨在一份新闻稿中称：“在中国设立知识产权机构是为了更直接地满足客户的需求，这也使得我们能够为客户提供横跨四大洲的商标解决方案。”

高盖茨知识产权代理机构将由北京办公室的顾问律师姚伟牵头领导。

K&L Gates launches IP agency in China

K&L Gates has launched intellectual property agency in Beijing to file and prosecute trademark applications directly with China National Intellectual Property Administration.

The launch of the firm’s IP agency means that it can handle all Chinese trademark matters independently, including oppositions, revocations and renewals, without relying on the services of local firms. K&L Gates said in a statement: “Launching the agency is in direct response to the client need seen by the team at K&L Gates, and allows K&L Gates to offer clients a streamlined trademark solution across four continents.”

The IP agency will be led by Edward Yao, a Beijing-based counsel of the firm.
