Former O’Melveny & Myers Shanghai counsel Li Weishi has recently joined Bird & Bird’s Shanghai office as partner. A member of the Massachusetts bar and registered to practise before the US Patent and Trademark office, Li focuses on commercial technology, licensing and IP matters, with particular expertise in the technology life sciences and healthcare sectors. 

“It is Bird & Bird’s focus in the technology and life sciences sector that was most appealing to me,” said Li, who also foresees strong growth in these sectors over the next decade. She sees high-value licensing and collaborative transactions, as well as patent due diligence in connection with acquisitions in the the Chinese technology and life sciences sectors, heating up.

Prior to her time at O’Melveny, Li worked as an associate at Ropes & Gray’s Boston office. ALB
