ALB China Law Awards Rising Law Firm of the Year, Han Kun has promoted eleven of its lawyers to senior positions within the firm. The firm elevated four counsels to partner, elected six senior lawyers to counsels, and made one lateral hire to bolster its partner ranks.

The firm’s four new partners are: Yang Chen, Anita Sun, Wenyu Jin and Rong (Estella) Chen while Gloria Xu, Tracy Zhou, Ying Yang, Evan Zhang, Daisy Wei and Huan Wang, and all based in Beijing, were made counsels. The practices of the newly-promoted lawyers span the entire spectrum of corporate and commercial law:  ranging from mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investment and capital markets to litigation, and IP protection.

On the lateral hire front, the firm has appointed Andrew Zeng as a partner.  Formerly a lead counsel at Glencore China, Zeng’s practice focuses on M&A, PE investment, structured finance, offshore IPOs and FDI.  He has significant experience in advising the mining and resources, commodities and power generation sectors.  Prior to his time at Glencore China, Zeng worked at a US investment banking firm as a partner and was its managing director.   Zeng is a China/New York dual-qualified lawyer.

Han Kun is one of a few law firms in China that have adopted the counsel title as a stopover for senior lawyers on the path to partnership.  Lawyers who work as counsel can expect to wait for one to three years to join partnership.ALB
