Baker & McKenzie has made one lateral hire and elevated six of its best young lawyers to its partnership.

The firm’s sole lateral hire is former Shearman & Sterling associate, Gao Yunlong.  Gao, who will be based in the firm’s Beijing office, will join the firm's Asia Pacific US securities group.
 
Gao specialises in the areas of corporate finance, US capital markets and corporate governance, and has represented Chinese companies in their international offerings and offshore listings.  He has also advised US public-listed companies and their boards on corporate governance and securities regulatory matters.

Separately, the firm’s six new has elected partners are Cheung  Kwun Yee, Victor Gu, Sally Hung, Christina Lee, Isabella Liu and Liu Jinghua. Their practices range from company insolvency and liquidation work and commercial litigation to mergers and acquisitions and IP rights enforcement.  Liu is based in Beijing, Gu in Shanghai, while Cheung, Hung and Lee are all Hong Kong-based.ALB
