DLA Piper has relocated Scott Thiel, an expert in intellectual property and technology (IPT), from the UK to Hong Kong in response to an upswing in demand for such services.

Thiel, who joined the firm from UK firm Dundas & Wilson in 2008, specialises in outsourcing and complex technology transactions. His client base includes a number of significant financial services companies.

Thiel's relocation comes following an 18-month spell that has seen significant growth in DLA Piper’s in IPT practice in the Asia Pacific region. The firm’s Regional Managing Partner Lance Miller said that IPT was becoming increasingly important for multinational companies within Asia.
"Asian companies are increasingly going global and they need to consider the ramifications for their IT and IP as they operate across a greater number of borders,” he said. ALB
