With an aim to enhancing its Greater China practice, Stephenson Harwood has hired Martin Downey, a leading lawyer in the field of construction law and dispute resolution, for its Hong Kong office from Blank Rome.

Downey, who has practiced in Hong Kong for 25 years, specializes in  commercial litigation, arbitration, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings in Hong Kong, Asia, and internationally.  Downey was a partner and head of the Asia dispute resolution practice at Heller Ehrman before he joined Blank Rome in 2008.

A qualified arbitrator, Downey has also acted as legal assessor to arbitral tribunals.  He sits on the executive committee of the CPR Institute.
