DLA Piper’s Hong Kong office has hired tax consultant Todd Beutler as partner in a move that will strengthen the firm’s private client practice.

Previously at Withers in Hong Kong, Beutler specialises in tax, trust, estate and business succession planning for high net worth clients. He also regularly acts for clients in tax dispute matters and fiduciary litigation.

“I believe the firm’s expertise and geographic coverage will enable me to further grow my practice and offer enhanced services to clients,” said Beutler, who has experience working with firms in Hong Kong, Singapore and the U.S.

“Wealth management and private client is a growth area in the region, and key to servicing the needs of family-owned companies in Asia,” said the firm’s Asia tax head, Daniel Chan, in a statement. “The addition of Todd has added significant strength to our U.S. tax and trust capabilities in Asia, and will enable us to further integrate with our already- strong tax team in the U.S. and globally.”

DLA Piper’s Greater China team has been growing steadily. In July, the firm’s Shanghai office hired employment counsel Ying Wang from King & Wood Mallesons.
